2012 ICTF Maritime Championships
Mr. Bryan Blue ICTF IV Dan, head instructor of Blue Taekwon-Do, Tournament Host writes about the success of the 2012 ICTF Maritime Championships and his students.

On Saturday the 12th of May the 2012 ICTF Maritime Championships was the biggest in the Maritimes in our organization’s history. More than 200 competitors bowed in, united as a group, to promote the world wide art of Taekwon-Do. Last year the Nova Scotia Provincial Championships was close to 160 competitors and in one year it increased by almost 50 people. The ICTF announced the new membership of Mr. McAvoy and the White Tigers from New Brunswick. The supporting clubs from Nova Scotia were Fall River Taekwon-Do, Carr Taekwon-Do, Muise Taekwon-Do, LeBlanc Taekwon-Do, Stewart Taekwon-Do, Smith Taekwon-Do and the host club Blue Taekwon-Do. There were awards given out to the clubs with the most students in attendance. 1st Place to LeBlanc Taekwon-Do with 68 students, 2nd Place to Blue Taekwon-Do with 43 students and 3rd Place to Fall River Taekwon-Do with 27 Students. The entire day was a buzz of excitement and anticipation of the vast number of competitors, friends and family. The competition started off with a bang with the Flying High Kick and Distance Kick where over half of the athletes took part. Parents and friends got to take numerous unbelievable pictures of the fantastic heights and distances displayed. During lunch the Black Belt Team Patterns took place between Fall River Taekwon-Do and Blue Taekwon-Do. It was highly evident that the Fall River all female team was in perfect unison with precision timing therefore coming home with the 1st overall gold medal title.
The winning team members were: Andrea Creighton, Nancy Johnston, Savanna MacLennan, Jessica Stoerig and Tracey Williams. Pictured Below:

The crowd was also enlightened with a Traditional Sparring Demo from Fall River Taekwon-Do. Well done to Harold Davis, Corbin Williams and Parker Williams.
With approximately half of the attendance being children under 12 years of age, it is safe to say that the ICTF is stronger than ever in the Maritimes and growing at an astounding rate. It is great to see other clubs and friends joining in on our efforts and desires in growing our organization and Taekwon-Do group. However, none of this could have been possible without the leadership of Kwan Jang Nim Cariati – ICTF President and Kwan Jang Nim Stanley – ICTF Canada President. Their wisdom and vision towards the future resonated throughout the tournament in comradeship and competition. A massive thank you must go out for the belief, support and dedication from all the clubs and competitors. Taekwon.
