September 2006 Miami, Florida USA June was a historic event for Chi Taekwon Do and Mr. Jorge Guerrero, Special Needs student, who was tested for 1st Dan Black Belt in Taekwon Do as a 12 year old. He began his Taekwon Do career 5 years ago and against all odds, since he had many physical difficulties not only to start with, but illnesses and surgeries along the way as well. His thesis, which he read to all those present, about his personal journey, left everyone in tears and taught us all about Perseverance, and the Indomitable Spirit. He looks forward to continue onwards to be a Master some day. Submitted by Mr. José M. June 2006 Photographs from the June 02-03 Inter-Continental Taekwon-Do Championship which took place in Toronto, Ontario CANADA. The ICTF Western Canadian Championships was held in Edmonton, Alberta, with over 550 competitors taking part. The event kicked off at 9 am sharp and the opening ceremonies included a proposal of marriage. The center referees for the 9 rings were given instructions to work on the buddy system so they never had to worry about getting a break for water or food. Tournament events included individual patterns and sparring as well as power breaking for green belts and higher. There were also events for team pattern and team sparring.
