Edmonton, Alberta CANADA
On July 10th in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, The Phoenix TKD club under Mr. Craig Stanley 6th (VI), conducted a Matsogi seminar with guest instructor Mr. Bobby Scott (IV). Mr. Scott has done very well in the sparring field during his Martial Art career and taught the application of techniques that he utilizes when he spars. Techniques such as multiple/consecutive kicking techniques, distance closing, timing drills, hip strengthening exercises and body positioning were all demonstrated and trained by all of those who attended. The 4 hour seminar is one of many that the ICTF conducts year round for its members and we are proud to have Mr. Scott as a part of the Federation. For more details on Mr. Scott and seminar information, contact the ICTF headquarters at admin@ictf-web.com.

Celebrating its 23rd birthday and representing the International Ch'ang-Hon Taekwon Do Federation, Chi Taekwon Do in Miami hosted a Black belt testing which covered all aspects of the Ch'ang-Hon system consisting of all patterns up to Se-Jong, kicking, self-defence and breaking. Besides the appropriate waiting time, the school age students needed to show a B average on their report cards and all candidates where required to take and pass a written exam, perform community service hours, required teaching hours as well as write a thesis on any subject as relating to Taekwon Do. All school members and special guests then celebrated with an open air BBQ enjoyed by all.

Since 1995 the Chi Taekwon Do schools have been involved in teaching students with special needs with the ultimate goal of getting Taekwon-Do to be recognized as the 25th medal event at the Special Olympics. Before a sport can be considered for inclusion as a medal event, it needs to be demonstrated first at a National event. June 20th, Ch'ang-Hon Taekwon-Do patterns, self-defence, breaking and sparring, were demonstrated for the first time at the opening ceremonies of the 1st Special Education Games of Paraguana by Chi Taekwon Do special needs students, under the direction of Mrs. Yuleima Garcia, 5th Dan. The event was televised by local television to be seen country wide.
